Todd Standing Calls Out Les Stroud on Bigfoot Encounter
Todd Standing is making a splash. Over the past 24 hours he has created a media frenzy in the bigfoot world. Now Standing claims he is going to petition U.S. congress to recognize bigfoot as an endangered species. While that would be great, I'm not so certain it will be that easy to convince congress.
But what's going on between Todd Standing and Les Stroud? Survivorman Bigfoot was a huge television success, which according to a statement made on Standing's Kickstarter page, was due to his involvement, and not Stroud.
"In the fall of 2013, Todd Standing took Les Stroud, Jeff Meldrum PhD professor of Anthropology; and wildlife biologist Dr. John Bindernagel PhD; into the Rocky Mountains and showed them Bigfoot. In March 2014 two episodes with Les Stroud was shown on three networks. Including Discovery channel US. The shows amazing success has spawned a whole new season premiering spring 2015.
After three incredible days in the field with the man responsible for the success of these Bigfoot TV shows ( Todd Standing)..." (emphasis mine)
So not only does Standing take credit for the success of the Survivorman Bigfoot series, he also had this to say about Les Stroud:
“The truth he (Stroud) was being skeptical and he knows damn well those were Sasquatch, like I do,”
Standing also included that teaming up with Les Stroud gave him "so much credibility it's ridiculous".
So what's the deal Mr. Stroud? Did you have a bigfoot encounter or not?

ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, this is stooping low... Having a controversial figure the opportunity to just present what he claims to have in reserved judgment is one thing to lack, but trying to play people against eachother is school yard stuff.

I think when Standing took Meldrum and Stroud out, they had encounters, but I don't think the Muppet BF pics are legit.

DeleteI agree with Joe. This post on the blog was in poor taste. There is no friction between the two parties beyond what Matt K. is trying to create. The jealousy and divisiveness in the community is like a virus. No one said journalistic acumen was in high supply here, but this is schoolyard stuff.
