This story was circulating the internet way back in 2004, or maybe as far back as 1999. Back when everybody was on 56k dial-up modems and a "Facebook" was just a regular book with directory listing of names and headshots. This story was so disturbing and so shocking that nobody believed it at the time. It was the Robert Lindsay " Bear Hunter: Two Bigfoots Shot and DNA Samples Taken " story of the time. And like Robert's Bear Hunter story , this witness didn't have a name. The only thing known about the witness is that this person was a government employee, anonymous of course. The author of the story was a science teacher named Thom Powell who believe it really happened and that the whole story was an elaborate cover-up. Powell said the anonymous government employee alerted the BFRO about a 7.5 feet long/tall burn victim with "multiple burns on hands, feet, legs and body; some 2nd and 3rd degree burns". Sadly, there was no DNA samples taken from

Delete“For each accepted explanation of a phenomenon, there is always an infinite number of possible and more complex alternatives, because one can always burden failing explanations with ad hoc hypothesis to prevent them from being falsified; therefore, simpler theories are preferable to more complex ones because they are better testable and falsifiable” Occam’s razor
ReplyDeleteSimply put, if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, looks like a duck, it is likely a duck…The DNA samples are cows, bears, dogs, etc. and a possible “known” species of prehistoric bear (which is cool).
There is zero facts or evidences that can be relied upon, or are reliable, that can prove the existence of some unknown species of anything walking around the forests of the world. Foot prints and images can and are being hoaxed..
Of course, the bigfoot cultists will ignore this reality in favor of their fantasy. There is to much money to be made from it. I just wish the cultists would stop beating up tree’s and howling…It gets obnoxious trying to sleep while camping….
"... simpler theories are preferable to more complex ones because they are better testable and falsifiable."
DeleteWhen you have wildlife biologists come across tracks, 50 miles into wilderness areas, what a million in one chance that would be for hoaxers to predict when and where to the exact yard of all that possible space.
"... there is always an infinite number of possible and more complex alternatives..."
Occam's razor kind of says when you see Sasquatch in that area and then retrieve physical sign of them, it's a Sasquatch that's left that sign. The 'infinite number of possibilities' here a euphemism for the number of excuses on the part of denialists.
"Simply put, if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, looks like a duck, it is likely a duck..."
How's about this, if it walks like a human, talks like a human, looks like a human with hair, it is likely a hairy human that will show human DNA.
"The only thing the DNA tests proved were that none of the hair samples used came from an unknown primate such as a bigfoot or a yeti. Does that mean they do not exist? If the study had been about dogs living in the wild, but none of the test results matched a domesticated canine, would that mean no dogs live in the wild? It simply means the test samples did not come from the sources they were believed to have possibly come from."
-Matt K
"There is zero facts or evidences that can be relied upon, or are reliable..."
Well about as reliable as any falsifiable source that can be presented as evidence in any scientific or judicial arena. There are in fact plenty of facts that denialists choose to ignore, like the pristine professionalism that has transitioned scientific careers into this field, by methods tried and tested to be legitmate and reliable. Like the very best primatologists and conservationists repeatedly telling you that there is nothing in the environment of the US that prohibits the existence of an unknown primate, and in fact... It is likely to be there.
"... that can prove the existence of some unknown species of anything walking around the forests of the world. Foot prints and images can and are being hoaxed..."
Well in part you're right. You require a body for classification, but scientific evidence require accumulating to reach that point, and what there is that's available, such as tracks and hair; points straight to an unknown primate leaving it. You don't classify, but you have to be brainwashed or require a safety net argument to maintain a pessimistic stance in the face of that. Tracks and footage can be hoaxed, so can anything... When you have the very best in respected fields telling you that here are so many sources that can't be, the maintained stance from denialists is proof of a supression of evidence fallacy; they want evidence but rhetorically deny it because like all sources of submittable evidence it's falsifiable all the same.
"Of course, the bigfoot cultists will ignore this reality in favor of their fantasy. There is to much money to be made from it. I just wish the cultists would stop beating up tree’s and howling…It gets obnoxious trying to sleep while camping…"
I'll agree with you to a degree the howling and tree knocking is annoying... But to maintain that ten thousand years of cultural and contemporary references, tens of thousands of anecdotes much of which have a basis in professional accounts, hair, tracks with dermals, footage verified by the best scientists in the world, thermal, 150 years worth of giant human skeletal remains and audio recordings are the result of mere fantasy, is the greatest leap of sweaty faith anyone can conjur up in their safe little bedrooms. Pseudoskepticism is a fundementalist quasi-religion.
Oh! And Sasquatch is free to use for marketing, considering it's pretty big in pop culture at the moment, you'd be a fool not to use it!

DeleteThe tale of Zana and her son, Khwit, have been staples in the mystery hominid stories of Russia where their version of “Bigfoot” is called the Almas or Almasty. It was suspected that Zana was not human but possibly a relict hominid, such as a Neanderthal. Previous study of Khwit DNA showed that he was all human. This more specific test was able to show that Zana was not of local origin but she was human. Her exoticness is likely what prompted the stories that morphed into her being non-human.
ReplyDeleteNow, many will argue that this does not preclude the existence of relict hominoids (hominids) that could be the Almasty. True, it does not. They also argued that Sykes finding of bear DNA did not preclude the existence of the Yeti in the Himalayas or that the unmysterious results of DNA samples from North America does not mean there is no Sasquatch/Bigfoot. But cryptozoologists were excited that this would finally be the study that gave them proof. Sykes’ response is that is gives them ANSWERS. When you take all the scientific data all together, it DOES NOT point to unknown primates still living in remote areas of the world. Is it possible? Yes. Is it probable? No. And, it’s looking less and less probable every day.
Zana was described as having dark, greyish-black skin, bare on the face, but elsewhere she was covered in reddish-black hair. The hair on her head was a bit darker and formed a thick, tousled mane that hung down her back. Her face had a sloping forehead, prominent brows and cheekbones and massive jaws . Her nose was broad and flat, her eyes were reddish and she had large, strong white teeth. Her body was robust and muscular with well-developed breasts. She was tremendously strong, and also swift, able to even outrun a horse. Although she walked and ran upright on two legs, her arms were proportionately long and her toes could be widely splayed, especially the big toes which she could move separately...
DeleteBack up evidence of these morphological features? Kwit's skull; unusual features being...
*very wide eye sockets
*elevated brow ridge
*extra bone in neck
*bigger all round
*bigger teeth
*bigger jaw bone
A Cro-Magnon DNA sequence 28,000 years old was obtained from fossil bones discoverd in the Paglicci cave, in Italy. The results show that the DNA is identical to the DNA sequences of certain modern Europeans. What does this tell us? Ancient peoples with morphological differences, and Cro-Magnon are classed as hominids, can have the exact same DNA as modern humans.
"... But cryptozoologists were excited that this would finally be the study that gave them proof. Sykes’ response is that is gives them ANSWERS."
Answers regarding a handful of samples, yes... Compare this to the mounds of cultural, contemporary, anecdotal, physical and biological evidence, not to mention professional opinion, then you have a lot more work to do before you cancel out that sheer frequency to the contrary... That's unless you're closure desperate of course? I wonder if Sykes actually echoes this sentiment?
"I don't think this finishes the Bigfoot myth at all. What it does do is show is that there is a way for Bigfoot enthusiasts to go back out into the forests and get the real thing."
"The fact that none of these samples turned out to be [Bigfoot] doesn’t mean the next one won’t,” said Bryan Sykes, the Oxford researcher who led the study, according to the Associated Press."
Hmmmmmm, doesn't look like it, does it?
"When you take all the scientific data all together, it DOES NOT point to unknown primates still living in remote areas of the world."
Well actually... Tens of thousands of anecdotes much of which have a basis in professional accounts, hair, tracks with dermals, footage verified by the best scientists in the world, thermal, 150 years worth of giant human skeletal remains and audio recordings are all in fact very measurable by scientific methods and have been verified on multiple times to be a legitimate means towards, at the very least, being open to the prospect of a unknown primate living in the wildest areas of North America. It can be said, that it is in fact way more ludicrous to maintain that all that is sheer rubbish and not conclude that at least something is going on... The latter being as unscientific and as dogmatic as one can possibly be. Expressing that sentiment isn't anything to be proud of, especially when you have the very best scientists in relevant fields telling you otherwise, I'd start listening to them to be honest.
"Is it possible? Yes. Is it probable? Well you have all those sources of evidence that points to an unknown primate leaving it... And to state it’s looking less and less probable every day when you have the very best geneticist in the world rallying the field for more samples, even theorising as to what people are seeing, is a little bit closure desperate...

DeleteLet us not forget that there ARE hairs that have been examined that are stated to be UNKNOWN PRIMATE and these samples obtained from the woods of the USA...strange how incidents such as these are always conveniently forgotten.
DeleteNothing like a bear paw that could "possibly" be a skunk ape arm to draw some publicity for the upcoming "expedition" & "convention." He's obviously taken notes from Dyer.
ReplyDeleteI considered that, not Dyer however as he's a new man and found god at the moment!
DeleteThough according to Randi's blog has a new gofundme to go hunt and kill one.
Good grief,Man...don`t tell us...he`s gonna be touring as a preacher soon enough...!
DeleteOver three and a quarter thousand sightings, to zero dead ones ever found is a rather poor ratio. Does not that comparative statistic prove they don’t exist?
ReplyDeleteNot when you have 150 years worth of giant human skeletal remains documented in the US, it don't. 70% of the country is covered in wilderness, this outlines the uphill task it is in finding such burial areas.
DeleteDon't forget a lot of burial sites are based on Indian land which is restrictive.
DeletePrecisely... Good point sir! Another interesting point; the areas that have yielded these skeletal remains fall right on top of sightings maps.

DeleteOne of the more interesting news this year. If it is really true that FWS officials ruled out bear and human, even more so. However, as footery goes, there is always a big "but"...so, please, Mr. Brown, make sure this is no gorilla or chimp arm before you give it to the lab. At least it is not another stupid hair sample that will come back as "inconclusive" or "contaminated".
ReplyDeleteSceptards, be alert: If these remains are of a previously unknown biped, the remains will conveniently disappear at the lab.

DeleteStacy Brown Big foot's biggest BS'R!
ReplyDeleteNah mate..I don`t reckon it at all...not at all.
ReplyDeleteIt's a raccoon or bear arm or possibly leg. One can spend about 60 secs on Google images to make the comparisons. I don't understand why they make the preposterous leap that this is a "non-human primate\juvenile skunk ape" arm. Also, why are they going to "soon to release" a video of the same bones in the picture? The picture is clear enough. What do they see here that is compelling enough to say these could be sasquatch bones versus just common animal bones? Also, why would they not just drop by their local Vet's office to find out which animal the bones belong to rather than "getting the bones ready for lab testing"???
ReplyDeleteThis is obviously some sort of reach for attention... I think it is likely some kind of attempt to hype things up for Stacy and as well as the "Bigfoot Weekend" thing that they keep advertising here. Nice try guys.
ReplyDelete
